How to verify a surrogacy solicitor in Ireland
This is a research checklist, not a directory or referral service. Surrogacy.ie does not verify that a named firm currently accepts surrogacy work, has a particular specialism, charges a stated fee or can advise on a specific arrangement.
1. Build a shortlist
Use a current professional register or obtain names independently. Verify the individual solicitor and firm before sharing sensitive information. A general family-law description does not establish current surrogacy experience.

2. Ask evidence-based questions
- Which current Irish legislation and procedure would you review for this matter?
- Which relevant provisions are commenced today, and which remain future provisions?
- Have you advised on comparable domestic or international surrogacy matters? What can you say without breaching confidentiality?
- Who will do the work, and what are their current practising details?
- What is the written basis of charging, what is excluded and when can the estimate change?
- Would another independent solicitor be required for another party?
- Which questions require advice in another jurisdiction?
3. Verify the advice route
Ask for advice in writing and keep the date, assumptions and source references. For court procedures, compare the explanation with current Courts Service material. For commencement, use the Irish Statute Book table.
4. Protect sensitive information
Before sending identity, medical, fertility, family or child information, confirm who receives it, why it is required, how it will be stored and whether any overseas adviser will receive it.
